Washington County Release Records Explained
“Released” identifies the end of custody by a named agency. For Washington County released inmates, an entry in the Sheriff's release report proves that Purgatory Correctional Facility ended its custody at the stated time. It does not prove that the criminal case ended, that all supervision ended, or that the person entered the community. Another jail, the Utah Department of Corrections, the U.S. Marshals Service, or Immigration and Customs Enforcement may take custody next. The agency name, exact time, and next destination must stay tied together.
A discharge is different. Corrections or a parole authority may use that word when a sentence or supervision term ends. Parole means conditional release from state prison while UDC Adult Probation and Parole supervises the person. Probation is a court-ordered community sentence and does not prove a state-prison release. Time served means a custodial term is complete. Each term points to a different official record.

Washington County Inmate Release Paths
Purgatory holds local arrestees, county and municipal court detainees, some UDC placements, and people with immigration-related holds. The same facility name can therefore sit at the start of very different release paths. The public timestamp is the first fact. The court or receiving-custody record supplies the context.

A death notification is not an ordinary release and must never be described that way. VINE can carry that event, but the originating agency record controls the description.
Note: A Purgatory release type identifies the next record to check; it does not establish that every form of custody ended.
Fields in Washington County Release Records
The official Purgatory fourteen-day release report is narrow. Its rows show the person released, an address or destination-style entry, and the time and date of release down to the second. That middle field can contain a state-inmate or ICE clue, but it is not labeled as a guaranteed destination. It should not be republished as a home address.

A fuller maintained record may also contain aliases, admission time, arresting agency, charges, holds, release code, court authority, property or account closure, and a separately held booking photo. Ask for those exact existing fields. A vague request can miss the facts needed to distinguish a community release from a transfer.
Request Washington County Release Records
The Sheriff's online GRAMA request is the official fallback when the web entry has rolled off or omits the release reason. Washington County says it responds within ten working days. Most report copies have a $5 minimum, while inspection of a public record is free. Staff time, media, postage, and card use can create other posted charges. Do not prepay; the Sheriff sends payment instructions after processing.
- Identify the person by full name, aliases, date of birth, and PCF number when known.
- Give the approximate admission and release dates and name the booking and release episode.
- Ask for the actual release time, code or reason, releasing authority, and receiving agency if maintained.
- Request segregable public portions if another field is classified as private or protected.
- Choose electronic delivery or inspection and follow the emailed fee instructions.
The request form also asks for requester contact data and an access basis. That personal data belongs on the secure agency form, not in public page content. The Sheriff fee schedule lists a $5 report copy, $20 per hour after the first fifteen minutes for atypical work, actual postage, and a $2 card fee.

Utah Law on Washington Release Records
Utah's Government Records Access and Management Act, or GRAMA, is found in Title 63G, Chapter 2. The Part 3 classification framework separates public, private, controlled, and protected records. A jail record is not public in every detail. Medical facts, personal data, safety material, and active investigative information may be withheld or redacted, while the agency should still provide reasonably separable public portions.
The fourteen-day online window is not a destruction schedule. Utah Archives assigns retention by record series, so ask the Sheriff which approved schedule governs the maintained record.
Court records follow a different life cycle. Xchange may preserve filing, disposition, sentence, and later orders after the Sheriff entry disappears. A sealed or expunged case drops from public Xchange access. Utah's 2026 process allows automatic clearing for some qualifying matters, while offense-specific exclusions and waiting periods still apply. Expungement seals government records; it does not erase independent news coverage.
Note: Online roll-off, sealing, and records destruction are different events governed by different Washington County or Utah record rules.
When Washington County Releases Inmates
Purgatory's official report contains actual release events overnight, in the morning, through the day, and in the evening. The data does not support a single daily release batch. It also cannot predict when a named person's processing will finish. No official source states a standard exit door, waiting point, holiday process, or average processing time.
Call PCF for case-specific logistics. Posted weekday office hours describe the contact office, not the hours when lawful custody changes can occur. A release order or bail payment starts a process; neither supplies the final exit time. The exact Sheriff timestamp remains the public confirmation that PCF custody ended.
Confirm Washington County Bond Releases
The Sheriff's bail and funds page lists cash payment to PCF staff, a credit-card kiosk in the lobby, phone payment, and GettingOut. Payment does not equal release. Staff must process the authority, and another court or agency hold may remain.
Use the release report for the final PCF timestamp. Then read the court docket for the bail or release order and any later case events. This two-record match keeps payment, judicial authority, and physical departure from being mistaken for the same event.
Note: A paid bond does not clear another hold or prove that Washington County release processing has finished.
Find Washington County Released Inmates
A reliable search follows the custody transition, not just the name. Start with the agency most likely to have held the person and preserve each identifier found along the way.
- Search the Sheriff's fourteen-day release report and match the exact timestamp.
- Check the current roster separately. A current entry supports continued PCF custody; absence alone proves nothing.
- Use the five-day booking report to obtain the PCF number, arresting agency, charge, and named court.
- Search Utah Xchange for disposition, sentence, release orders, and later case activity.
- Check UDC for a state-sentenced person, parolee, probationer, or state-placement clue.
- Use VINE for a matched-person status check and future alerts.
- Check BOP, ICE, or the federal docket when the custody chain points there.
A released person normally drops off the current roster. That absence can also reflect a transfer, data lag, or name mismatch, so pair it with an affirmative release record.

Washington County UDC Release Lookup
The Utah Department of Corrections offender search covers people currently under UDC supervision. That can include prison inmates, UDC prisoners placed in a contract county jail, parolees, and probationers. It does not cover an ordinary pretrial PCF detainee, and it is not a permanent archive after full discharge.

The screen is relevant when a Purgatory entry suggests a state inmate or when a person remains on parole or probation. Read the exact “Release Date and Type” value and current location. If the person no longer appears, request a UDC discharge or termination record instead of assigning a date based on disappearance.
Washington County Recent Release Report
Washington County does not publish separate pages labeled for twenty-four or seventy-two hours. It publishes one rolling fourteen-day report ordered by release date and time. The generated timestamp shows that the report refreshes, but the Sheriff does not promise a fixed minute-by-minute schedule. For a shorter window, compare each exact release time to the current time rather than relying only on date headings.
The official release summary is the direct source shown below. It contains no photo, charge, booking number, release reason, or authorizing court.
The timestamped rows confirm departure from PCF during the web window. Missing details belong in the GRAMA record or the linked court and custody systems.
Note: The report's generation time shows a refresh occurred, but the Sheriff does not promise a fixed update interval.
Court Records After Washington County Release
The five-day booking report identifies the court tied to each charge. That local field helps route a search to Fifth District Court or the relevant county or city justice court. Utah Xchange can retain the case sequence after the fourteen-day jail entry rolls off: filing, plea or trial, disposition, sentence, warrants, and later orders.
A court release order proves legal authority. The Sheriff timestamp is still better proof of the physical end of PCF custody. Match both when exact timing matters. Missing Xchange data is not proof that no case existed because sealed, expunged, juvenile, and certain older or nonpublic cases are excluded.
Washington County Book-and-Release Meaning
Washington County uses “Book and Release Services” for a court-ordered fingerprint and photo process at Justice Court. It is not the Purgatory release report, and it does not by itself prove a person completed a custodial stay. The similar name can send a search down the wrong path.
For a true jail release, look for the person in the timestamped Sheriff summary or request the maintained PCF record. For a Board matter, use the live Utah Board hearing-and-decision search and read the downloadable order. A scheduled hearing is not a release grant, and a future parole date can be rescinded before departure.
Washington Release Alerts and Federal Records
Utah VINE offers custody checks and phone or email alerts for participating Utah prisons and jails. It can report release, transfer, escape, and other events. The reporting agency matters. A jail release alert can coexist with a transfer to state or federal custody, so confirm the event with the originating record.
For a sentenced federal prisoner, the BOP Inmate Locator covers records from 1982 onward and can display a release date or “Not in BOP Custody.” That result does not rule out another agency or supervised release. A USMS pretrial detainee may not appear in BOP; use PACER and the lodging facility. ICE's locator covers current detainees and generally those released from ICE custody during the prior sixty days.
Washington County Post-Release Supervision
The Utah Board of Pardons and Parole decides parole for a state-prison sentence. UDC Adult Probation and Parole then supervises the person. A parolee can be physically out of prison while still appearing in the UDC offender search because supervision continues. The Board order supplies the legal decision; the UDC location and case-manager fields show the current corrections relationship.
Probation comes from the sentencing court and may follow county jail time. It is not proof of a state-prison release. Washington County Release or Transfer
PCF reports can contain “UDOC,” “STATE INMATE,” or immigration-related clues. These make an interagency handoff a practical Washington County issue. A Purgatory timestamp ends Sheriff custody, but a UDC location or ICE result may show that confinement continued elsewhere.

Match identity, status, and transition. An agency number or case number is stronger than a name alone. The next custodian is the key fact when one roster entry ends.

Washington County Release Facilities
Purgatory Correctional Facility is the adult county jail and source of the current roster, booking report, and release summary. Local releases may return to the community or move to another custodian. The Workers' Housing Building is a low-security work-release component on the same campus. Authorized program leave is not final discharge; the Sheriff record must show the end of custody.
The county announced the Workers' Housing Building in 2018 as a replacement for temporary structures and described a planned capacity of about 128 low-risk residents. That historic figure does not establish today's capacity or program status. UDC's April 2025 county-jail booklet separately listed 200 Washington County contract beds and 100 available for Corrections. Those figures describe different concepts. Together they show why a person at the Purgatory campus may follow either a county release path or a state Board and UDC path.
